Black mastic is used in LV and MV terminations and joints to protect the heat shrink material by covering the sharp edges of metallic parts. It is also used for filling voids and irregular shapes and acts as an environmental seal to protect ingress of water and other environmental contaminants. It has excellent adhesion with metals, rubber, Plastics etc.
